Project description:

As Requested, Our Service Team Attended The Subject Vessel On 5th—6th Aug. 2024, During Her Alongside At ShangHai Port The Reason For Attendance Was Provide Service For Scrubber Inlet leakage repair

Progress:

Cleaning & Inspection

Cleaning & Inspection

Background:
The SB scrubber leaked again after completing a 360° welding repair. Cracks were also found in the welds of PS scrubber. But without any leakage.

Cleaning
We found a lot of black clay covering the inlet and flow divider both SB&PS scrubber(Even though it's been cleaned up by the crew).
Inspection Starboard:
After check, the crack appears in the middle, and the crack looks like corrosion.
Inspection Portside:
After PT, we found cracks between the two double plates on the lower right side, which looked like corrosion, we removed the plate underneath the crack after we found there was wash water inside.

Progress:

Grinding & Thickness measurement

Grinding & Thickness measurement

Grinding Starboard:
We grinded all the welds where cracks appear and extend them to the surrounding corroded welds
Grinding Portside:
We cleaned the remaining welds we removed the plate under the crack and grinded the welds that showed obvious corrosion
Thickness measurement:
After cleaning and grinding start thickness measurement

Progress:

Welding & Grinding smooth

Welding & Grinding smooth

Welding
Spare parts:Welding material,ERNICRMO-13,2kg
We reweld the polished area more than twice per weld to ensure that it is strong enough to resist corrosion
During the welding process, it is necessary to ensure that the interlayer temperature of the weld is below 80℃
Grinding smooth
At the same time, do a good VT check to prevent missing any areas of welding

Progress:

PT checking after welding

PT checking after welding

Check all welds to avoid welding cracks
Check the back of the inlet
We also invited the chief engineer to inspect all welds
Conclusion / summary
The leakage was caused by weak welding seams. This time, we polished the leakage area and repaired the welding again, and strengthened the corroded area to against corrosion.
We also found that the area with severe corrosion was mainly on the flue gas exit side.
Therefore, we have repaired all welds on the flue gas exit side for protection
